Abstract

If you are preparing for the Math 30 pre-calculus diploma exam, this series provides you with the necessary instruction to do your very best.

Solutions were organized into smaller manageable booklets representing specific unit-test bundles. This allows students to zero in their problematic chapters that proved most difficult to deal with. The problems in the unit tests were selected as the representative exemplars to particular families of problems that must be mastered to succeed in the diploma exam.

The volumes in this series have sufficient exercises but do not indulge in repetitive over-practice which can cause unnecessary mental fatigue. Additionally the topics can be worked through efficiently in the shortest time possible.

Solutions are explained thoroughly, step-by-step with lots of visuals. Explanations are accompanied by dynamic Desmos graphs so that the student can experiment and see live effects of various parameter changes. Explanations are paired with references to the lessons containing the theoretical concepts used.

Each unit provides a strong foundation that will not only help with the diploma exam but also prepare the student for university. Many degrees nowadays have Calculus as a mandatory course and Calculus relies heavily on Math 30 as a prerequisite. While this is obviously the case for STEM degrees, Calculus is also an essential requirement for business majors, which may come as a surprise and disappointment to some, but it need not be.

The units can be used as a self-teaching guide or as classroom material since the theory was bundled as well-detailed lesson plans. For those wishing to complete a Math 31 course, the Math 30 is a prerequisite.

Many students report that the Math 30 grade was observed to be one of the first grades requested by universities during the automated part of the admission process. Investing in a good understanding of pre-calculus greatly contributes to a student’s ability to progress through the typical requirements of admission in higher education and also ensure they can succeed and stay in school thereafter.
